Pie crust snow!

Recommended Posts

The snow from earlier in the week has not yet disappeared in the hills, just thinner in parts!

This meant we could not get to new ground, just rework an area we did 6 weeks ago. Luckily the lads that do the surrounding land are are not much cop, and a few had moved back in!

The snow is soft underneath, but has a crust on top. Meaning, the rabbits skip across the surface, whilst the dogs crunch through with every step!

When there is heavy weather, rain or snow, not a lot is sat out, and mostly the rabbits are in the holes or the broken down walls.

One of the young dogs has a unique way of keeping an eye out for bolters when ferreting an old wall!

Just stands on top, and watches both sides! Thats where the collie brains come in!

Managed to capture a run at last! Wish i had a decent camera, with a good zoom!

You can just see the rabbit!

A lot of great retrieving going on!

And the mandatory roll around afterwards! (Why do the dogs do this?)

Had three ferrets out this time, took one of this years jills out along the older hit squad of hobs, she started with fire, but smouldered out as the day went on, but enough to warrant staying put for now!

The other 2 hobs, well i've never seen as much evil in a medium sized pair ever. I'll spare the details of this.

One of the evil hobs doing a polar bear impression!

In the end, all animals knackered, (Including the 70 yr old spade dodger) resulted in 28 rabbits, hard work but still a result off ground covered 6 weeks ago!

Back to it tommorow, just a day out ferreting with the russel.

Perfect Pics, good job! What camera are you using?

Just a £100 fuji compact, think i need an SLR to get the piccies i want.

The thing is with taking the running piccies, you're usually behind the working animals, following up. This coupled with digging, carrying and ferreting does not leave you with much of a chance to take the piccies!
