Sterry 0
Sorry to bring up such a debated issue but..... What rifle is capable of takin the odd longish range rabbit (past .22lr reach) but primarily for foxes no further than 250yrds max. been looking at both a .223 and a .22hornet. any advice ??? SportingShooter 0
.223 Cheap ammo, Available ammo. Headshooting Rabbits, and foxes out to as far as you like really. The Hornet would be a great calibre if ammunition was more readily available in different loads. SS Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
I was drawn to the idea of a .223 because of the moneys Quote Link to post

It's beneficial to your Hearing You can shoot the .223 without earmuffs with a Moderator. It also cuts down on any recoil and doesn't affect the grouping. Go for one SS Quote Link to post
hunter1 63
223 cracking calibre thats what i use for long range rabbits, crows and foxes. If u head shot the rabbits u can still eat them. 223 has lots of ammo choice sterry. Quote Link to post

weejohn 3
cheap ammo my local gunshop sells remington for £29, i nearly died when i needed to pay £26 for winchester supreme in 22-250. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
guys whats the 223 like in the wind Depends on the bullet weight like any gun. A 40gr .223 will be affected more than a 55gr obviously. I don't really know what to compare it with, but between the .222 and a .22-250 with a 50gr bullet, .22-250 being the one which bucks the wind the best. SS Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
How much would you expect to pay for some decent ammunition like federals or remigton per box? cant find prices anywhere on the net. Quote Link to post

lgray88 4
.223 ammo up where i live is around the 13 or 14 pounds a box , if your planning on doing alot of shooting why dont you try reloading you will see a huge difference in groupings and its cheaper by miles, reloaded 223 rounds will be cheaper too run than a 17hmr or 22wmr liam Quote Link to post
