small headed jack russels

Recommended Posts

Sorry but this does bug me. Apart from the obsession with 'dogs having bricks for heads' (except my dog that needs his as he head-butts foxes to death ;) ), Russells were never originally meant to get stuck in every time they met a fox. Borders & Fell originated from the North of England where the terrain in which they were worked meant they had to draw the fox most of the time whereas down south where the Russell originated, Foxes were for bolting to hounds. No good to the hunt terrierman, his Russell munching foxes to bits. A terrier with a 'big head' has just become a fashionable thing to have. Don't worry about your dog's head, as long as there's some grey matter in there, you'll do just fine :)

by the sounds of it the young lad who's asking the question sounds like he's only starting out and has probably been listenend to some fool going on about the head size and thought that it mattered.

It does not matter what the dog looks like, and the head size does not matter either keep working her and see what happens ive seen ugly little russell workers with little snipey heads work very good so all the best.

Interesting reading, I have a wee 10 inch Foxwarren Jack Russell with small head she was bred for baying/bolting and dose it superbly, although if she dose take a bite it is always round about the eye area which is too close for comfort for my liking, but she has 110% Heart, so i would not let it bother you!!
