Guest air gunner
as the description says what are the pros and cons of a gas ram. it is cheaper to fit a gas ram to my bsa supersport rather than a spring. but what does it envolve. do you have to cock the rifle etc? Quote Link to post
brock1 2
i had one in my webly xcell &yes you do have to still cock the gun but it made my gun have less kick with the same power but i lent mine out &the lad put oil down the barell & f*cked the gas ram but it is well worth getting one just dont leand the gun out lol ps there easy to fit your self & come with full instructions Quote Link to post
mad al 146
You'll have less re-coil for sure, I've never fitted one myself but tried out a before and after one and it was certainly a smoother rifle after the conversion Dedicated gas ram rifles like the HW90 and 90K are a joy to own Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
i take it they last longer than springs? springs are destined to lose power once used but is it the same with gas rams/ im not sure how they work. i really need to find a chronograph does anyone know where a gun smith in cambridge is? Guest air gunner
cheers brecon it all seems in favour for me to get a gas ram then. has anyone actually got one? how harsh is it on your scope? i havent had to zero my scope for 3 weeks will a gas ram make me have to zero every shot for example? the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. brock1 2
like i sead they lower the recoil of the gun i had one in my excell so less recoil the less you will have to sight your gun up mate. but a mate of mine has a bsa lightning that has one in & now it only fires at 8 psi now on the cronograth but i dont know how long he has had it in. they dont like oil on them at all. but i would have another one in my gun anyday they can turn a sh*t gun in to a good gun well wearth getting. brock1 2
that is not my gun it is a mates gun. but i had one in my excell but a mate put oil down the barrel & now it has next to no pressur in it would i be able to get this one re pressurised? where would i get it done at & how much would it cost mate Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
Its just i read on the website with the link to it they have a big recoil but i will take it from someone who has used one. gas rams sound too good to be true! Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
Are they like PCP's? i mean do you have to get them re filled every 1000 or so shots? I bought an air rifle thinking it would be low maintanance but now Im not so sure! Edited December 5, 2008 by air gunner Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
The link you looked at was on about FAC guns ..the lightnings supersports are different the lock time is quicker.Never had a scope ruined by a ram..Fit and forget.Anyone need one PM me for the cheapest in the UK.. brock1 2
im not sure about refills i have never had one done. i thought mine was f**ked after a mate oiled it but before then it was spot on i had mine for 2 year nobother did not lose power or nowt but if i can get it refilled ill be a happy camper. but a mate of mine has one that only shoots at 8ftlb but i dont know whats happend to his or if it is a boge job with anothere ram. how much would one be for my webley excell 177 from you i bought mine from thoben years ago so it was defo the right one in my gun it was shooting at 11.8ftlb on the crono but with acupell hw 177 it would shoot strait throught a chest freezer at about 50 yards but i dont think they do the acupell hw any more as i cant find them any where just normal acupell Edited December 5, 2008 by brock1 Quote Link to post

Like I said above they can be pressurised again as long as they havent been damaged..Your mates most probably got the wrong ram in it..Lots of dealers sold XL rams for Standard lightnings the power was decreased to@8ftlbs Quote Link to post
