wild rover 548
Fireman, What type of work has the healer seen (here we call them ACD healers)... I am wondering what you are looking for out of this cross.. We have a lot where I grew up and they are more drovers than herders and kinda soft (ass biters) compared to a good cow border collie or curr dog... Not trying to start anything just get an idea of what you think they will be like and what you want them to do... Hello mate, good topic, the ACDs I have seen have been far tougher, durable and hardy with more stable disposition than borders, maybe not have the brain most borders are famous for but not far behind, but the crosses have all been tough as teak. fireman 10,944
Just seen your question mate and a good one it is at that, the acd bitch which is dam to this litter isn't mine i've just been looking after her for a few months now.The owner was thinking about using her to produce a lurcher litter as he had heard a little about them,he asked on here if anyone had had experience of this cross. All repsoncess were of the positive and the people who had worked them were more than impressed with what the x can be capable of,the dam was coming out mooching about and was showing good hunting skills,a good nose and a willingness to hit cover, getting in there with the terriers. The rest brings us here with this litter of which i am keeping one back myself,i plan to use this pup as a all rounder, ferreting, working along side the terriers at all game and a bit of lamping, longnetting as well if i can.One thing i will say about the acd,i would rather have a collie hanging off me than the jaws of a acd,it would certainly hurt less. These may be little dogs on the outside but within lives a giant,i think you could get them to do most sorts of dog work and my gardens very safe with her in it.Maybe that rumour is true about yank blood being soft then :11: Quote Link to post

heart of wales 19
Good looking pups dont like they are wanting for anything well done. We had a bitch which was a ACD she recently died at eleven hard as nails hang off the tail of a bull or cow to move them lazy bugger out in the field though always singling out sheep, would go off hunting squirells and hares :realmad: when you wanted her to work sheep. You only needed one dog when you wanted to pen though. She used to live and have her pups under a pile of wood stakes you would not see the pups until they started walking, she killed every cat that was on this farm after one scratched her as a puppy. Will probably make fair size pups ? how big is the Dam have you got any photos of her Quote Link to post

Not trying to start anything just get an idea of what you think they will be like and what you want them to do... seems to me your tough boarders could have a bit of acd blood in them.dude. iv had a lot of experiance of the boarder and to me they are one of my faverot lurcher xs iv had and still have dogs of this x that i simply couldnt ask any more of,on the other hand the acd comes from a country of extream conditions, the smithfeild collie that was taken to ozz with the early drovers couldnt quite cut it and never had the stamina for the long days in the heat and faceing down wild cattle, hence the collie that then became the acd, tough enough to face down the wild cattle, guard man and herds,(makes it a drovers dog imo)also caperble of long hard days in high tempretures, serviveing on little food and water.gooder base fora lurcher as any id say, collie and bull in the make up with a quick thinking attentive colliy brain,id say more crushing jaw when needed than soft biters, should do well.maybe your usa acds are from a show strain??
