weejohn 3
i shot this big dog fox on monday night, it really was terribly frosty and i thought that there was no hope for me to see a fox but i did so that makes it 8 foxs in 3 trips. when i first arrived at the place i had a look over the wall and this fox made a quick exit so i just carried on away onto the hill. i never saw anything and after 20 minutes i said bugger it this is a waste of time so headed back to the van and i seen the fox had came back into the field but was off like a shot so i tried cutting it off as it looked like it was heading back onto the hill. i turned a corner and there he was but was off running again but after a quick squeek he stopped side on to me and with a standing shot nailed him at about yards, i was delighted. out of all the foxs shot here only 1 has been a vixen, which i thought was very strange, there is 4000 acres on this bit of land but i have only shot on about 100 acres of it but a lot of it is deer fenced and surrounded by forestry. while walking on the hill its the first time i have seen snipe and i must of seen 10 , i didnt know if it was just a coincadence that the foxs are now being shot and now i am seeing snipe. also all of the foxs have had beautiful clean teeth. FOXHUNTER 5,021
8 foxes off 100 acres , thats good going mate. Must be a lot more on the other 3900 Quote Link to post
weejohn 3
i would think so FOXHUNTER but i really dont want to step on the keepers toes thats why i havnt ventured down to where has his pheasants, i was asked by the land owner to shoot the vermin although the land is keepered but after speaking to the keeper he doesnt shoot any foxs till they do damage and only wanted me shooting crows etc with a .22 where he has his pens which is also where the crows and other pests are. and as you know crows soon get wary and then need the hmr or a centrefire for knocking off crows . at this time of the year all the foxs will be heading down to the lower ground in search of food especially round his pens but when the season is over i will venture further. SportingShooter 0
Nice going John. A very satisfying hole in him A few of the boys were lamping my ground the other night ( while I struggle with these awkward shifts) and had two. I shot one on a Pheasant drive on Saturday, another Dog, no cubs for him this year. I can't believe a keeper that doesn't shoot Foxes I mean I've found it difficult of late, but there are other who look for me. SS Quote Link to post
