Gin 498
My Lurcher gained a limp , when onto a rabbit,- several months ago. With rest i thought it would heal, but not so. The vet can find nothing wrong, but my Lurcher is limping more than ever now, and can not be run. She has very little limp if she is walking on level concrete, but move off onto anything uneven and she limps badly. I have tried to manipulate the area, but no real luck with it. Front left leg. I'm not sure now if its just the foot but its hard to tell. Anyone any idea of what may be the problem,- i know its a "shot in the dark", but i will try anything. Pennymeadow Whippets 0
Hi Gin have you had a xray on the leg & foot?
Gin 498
The vet said a X-Ray was not needed, but that is being arranged now. I do not really expect it to show anything. No swelling of any kind.
Tommy 9
Gin mate it may be worth taking the dog to another vet for a second opinion !!! Sounds like one of those litle 'Nigling' injuries that running dogs pick up from time to time !!! What i would do is to check the whole leg starting from the shoulder, aplying pressure and looking for signs of pain in the dog and then working right down to the dogs foot and even its toes !! This might help in finding the area which is causing the problem. Another good thing to check is your dogs toe nails, it would be a good idea to keep these short as if they're long and the dog is sufferening from a foot injury walking with over long nails could agravate the injury increasing the healing time !! You say you've given the dog some rest !! It may be a good idea to give the dog some more rest (especially now the seasons over) and then begin working on the dogs fitness with some lead walking over a small distance then increase !! I once had a dog which was showing a limp when out walking after been lamped and after giving a few weeks rest (lead walk at night to empty herself) and then starting some fitness work the dog was fine !!! Hope your dog recovers mate !!! All the best Tommy
