Get a couple of bin bags inside each other to put the carcasses in and some rubber gloves from a petrol station. Disease ridden blighters they are. Bait with peanut butter / tin of dog or cat food with holes in it. Look for where you think they are coming / going from any runs with footprints in mud or muddy footprints on concrete or flags and bait near there.

Chocolate is also very good, anything you can tie down with fishing line will do the trick as they wont run off meaning you can have a clear shot. carefull you dont attract cats if in the garden seems to be a common problem this when using baitng methods at night

I've heard all kinds over the years but for me its very simple, bread! this is what I used to do...

I put a mound of small pieces of bread out a couple of metres from the back of my garden, I'd then throw a handful of rubbed bread up in the air, go put the kettle on, have a sandwich or a can of beer :drink: wait till the bread comes down....nahhhh! I jest, I sat at the bedroom window, let the rat take the bread, give it confidence, maybe a couple of times, make sure the pieces are small.

I'd get up to 16 a night sometimes, they'd come out facing me, I've hit them through the head and its come out of their ar$e, stopping them stone cold. You might get the small ones coming out first, when they go back with the bread the bigger ones rob the bread from the little-uns. Years ago when I began shooting them, I read that the rats intake of food was 75% wheat, so to me, bread was the answer and it never failed

I've moved since, me gun's in the loft dormant :( wish I had somewhere to shoot.

minght seem a bit strange but i tried some of the KFC colnels secret recipe 11 herbs and spices gravy on a permission of mine, worked a treart as they cant run away with it. Only problem is the smell of it makes me hungry.

what i tend to find works really well is if you put ur bait on a large bright white board so that you dont need a lamp, u will see them run on even with juat a little moon light! then go for the head with a 22 or even beta get a .25

As a bait peanut butter is the tackle mate it keeps there attention long enough for a good clean shot allways try for the head shot and night with the lamp has allways been my choice of attack try a red fillter as well they work a treat.Hope this helps you bud ;)

This method is 100% spoton as this is the way i used to shoot tham as if you use any other bate they seem to pick it up and naff off . Airun and a red filter on a lamp also with a laser for those little devils that are too close.. I used to shoot this way at a chicken farm and its simple with no messing and i used to bag around 40-50 on a friday or tuesday night.. great fun.. :clapper:
