How long has it been since you bought it? Has the cocking effort also reduced? Was there smoke when you shot it the first few times? Is it quieter now?

More importantly, how do you know that the power has reduced? Penetration tests or range? Or are you using a chrono?

The simplest explanation would be that the gun has been dieseling so far and now settled down to its actual power. That happens a lot with new springers.

Take the gun to a reputed gunsmith and have it inspected if you feel necessary.

I was wondering because it doesent penertrate a roses tin every time from 20yrds. no i dont leave it cocked when not loaded but i do walk for 3 or so houres with it cocked and loaded once a week.. i dont think it has for sure. but i was wondering if it was fiesable. im sure it hasent but if it does how hard is it to fit the v-mach spring? what kit do i need?

Mate,

Having a springer cocked for long periods of time is damaging to the spring, and you say that you leave it cocked for 3 hours once a week??? well that will soon put payed to that spring,, you should never really load a springer until your more or less ready to fire, the most I would leave any of my springer's loaded would be 5 minutes,, and that would only happen on a ground stalk,, hope this helps,,

I walk around with my spring rifle cocked and loaded all day if I'm hunting and there isn't much about. Things will hear you coming if you keep firing and reloading. I use my rifle a lot and the same spring has been in it for over a year now and its as powerful as ever. you should never leave it cocked when your not using it though.

ok then thats reasuring i doubt it has lost its power but i want to be on the safe side. the only problem with the v-mach spring is it is £70 and a gas ram is only £50. but i wont be changing my spring or gas ram anytime soon i hope. cheers for the plans and info though it will come in handy at a later date.

hi there mate the reason for it not penetrating the roses tin every shot maybe because of the pellets and nothing to do with the rifle itself as you can get some pellets that are slightly defected so maybe worth checking your pellets and as far as i know a spring rifle is not affected by the cold just pcp's but i stand corrected on the last part if im wrong...

that could be it i did use two different pellets but thought nothing of it. is the outer seal on the barrel not the one the pellet goes into supposed to have a small marking on the top?
