Well fellas iv got a bit of a problem with 2 dogs iv got here one i got in about 3 weeks ago and a pup iv had thats 8 mths old.. well the 16mth old dog is eating only small bits is constantly scouring and never soild since i got him they have both recived a dose of drontal plus and ar passing no worms.. the new dog came from a yard where he was only ever feed meat and bone id reckon... where here both dogs ar on Waggs 23% protein food with fresh mince beef put through it ..

now they havent be bad till this after noon both dogs got bowls down into there kennels the 8mth old pup had a bit not as much as he usually has but alot more then the 16mth old dog did.. so i went and had a look at both dogs the 16mth old dog was bloated out like feck and was whining a bit when he was walking about he was okay earlyer when i took him out for a run... and the 8mth old pup didnt seem bloated.. the 16mth old dog drank a fair bit of water when i came out to the yard and had only about 2 mouth fulls..

this has me baffeled ... there coat etc is perfect no signs of ill dogs etc the 16mth old dog does have a lump on his back thats after geting a small bit bigger but il have to get it checked.. somone told me the 16mth old was like this because the food was too rich for him.. but its fine for the pup... anyway im snookered here lads.. if anyone can shed some light on the situation for me id be forever greatfull..

Both dogs will get a trip to the vet tommrow id reckon.. unless somone has a cure...

thanks in advance fellas.. :)

Vet might be your best bet but it might be worth starving them for 24 hours, then give them a probiotic drink and light food, boiled rice and chicken, small amount to start then gradually introduce the wagg feed to that. If they are showing no other signs of ill health this is what i'd do

might sound like a stupid question, have they both been jabbed ??? New dog in kennels, 3 weeks... bit suss mate, keep an eye on them, get them to the vets if no jab..

well the 8mth old pup has deffonetly got his ... but as for the 16mth old dog he will have to get the leptos shot.. booster.. il take them down the vet tommrow he will spot it stright away if theres anything up... neither dogs have lost any condition pup is fine big and heavey... 16mth old dog is looking better then when i got him.. so its got me stumped...

thanks for the reply lads..

I hate to say this, but that Wags food is one of the cheapest and most horrible there is: I bought a bag once in desperation when I was very hard up: my dogs are normally fed on raw: well this stuff went through them like a dose of salts. If your dog has always been fed raw I would strongly advise getting him (and you other dog) on to a decent diet: that Wags is total rubbish and the fact that the dog is scouring should tell you something about the quality of the 'food' (though I'd hesitate to call it that) the poor bugger is having to eat. Sorry to rant: but I think it is positively criminal the rubbish that people are allowed to sell under the name of dog food.

to be honest im no surprised i was geting it off a mate for 15 euro for 17kg bag.. and sells for 26 euro.. nothing goods ever that cheap... f**k sake looks like its back to the kasco for the lot of em..

get em on a course of synulox or other antibiotics.... sounds like they could have a bit of a stomach/bacterial infection it does happen specially when raw chicken etc is being fed.... get em on a probiotic like natural yogurt and mix plenty of rice into theyre food just to get em back on track hopefully its nothing too serious!!!

if there are no other signs of ill health then i would fast them for a day, then feed something simple for starters like brown bread & rice til they start to shit right, then gradually start feeding QUALITY feed. if there condition drops, and/or you see blood in the shite get them down the vets sharpish...

I've just thought of something else: the dog you've only had for 3 weeks could have picked up a bug it has no immunity to at your place. Not saying your place is dirty but each environment has its own bacteria etc: which is why its not uncommon for dogs to get upset guts when moved. OR: it could be stressed from the move, which could also have the same effect.
