17 hmr?

Recommended Posts

17hmr................with it only having a small bullit it can be effected by wind at longer ranges,it will shoot out to 200 yards, most of the amo is ballistic tipped so unless you do head shots meat damage is a problem if you want to eat the meat.they are super sonic with the rounds travelling at 255o fps so you get a crack when you fire them even with a moderator..amo is roughly £12 per 50...all in all i like the hmr.............................................................................

I decided to apply for the hmr as i think it is a much more verstile round compared to a 22. I was visited by my local firearms officer about a week and a half ago. Could any one tell me how long it should take for them to get in touch with me after the visit?

sorry for hyjacking the thread edgar

My FEO said about 5 days, dissapointed, it took 6 ;);)

Won't take long, most forces have targets, say 30 days from 1st enquiry to verdict ;)

To br honest I would have applied for both, it's so much easier that having to apply for a variation afterwards. Don't underate the .22, it kills more meat than any other calibre, and has the versatility of being near silent.

I went for the Savage 93 Mk11 HMR with thumbhole stock, what a beaut, should be on the short list.

Also, for a 1st gun why not buy 2nd hand, loads of HMRs about, and yes the wind is the issue ;)
