ginger dave 63
I am having trouble zeroing my scope, it is a Nikko Sterling Platignum, it is fitted to a Falcon f19 hawk rifle. It is shooting low and right even with the turrets turned all the way, do you think its faulty or am I doing something wrong, any help would be appreciated DAVE Quote Link to post

Wind the turrets all the way from end to end counting the clicks (not too hard at the end stops) and then leave in the middle! If this doesn't help then perhaps the scope is fubared!! fishywil 0
take the scope off and make sure there is nothing under the mounts and replace and try again i had this trouble and it sorted it for me Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
try swaping the rings around, or putting them on swing through 180 degrees with them then try as it could be this, put the one on front mount at back, this can help also, if not shim them with a bit of a drinks can............ mattydski 560
Are you getting a group or they all over the place? Was it ever zero'd on the scope, or is it a new fit? Have had the problem when my kid dropped an old springer without telling me and the forend was cracked. The scope turned out to be fine, but the gun was knacked.. matt Quote Link to post
richie 1
i had the exact same problem a few weeks ago & have had it in the past.. as said, find the middle setting of the turrets, then try & find your zero, when you find it & you either notice that you cant get on target or that its on target with only a few clicks left, then go down the route of using shims, but personally i would use thin card.. for example, if your shots are hitting 3" high from where your cross hairs sit, you would need to put a shim on the front mount where the scope sits.. .. let us know how you get on.. ginger dave 63
I can get a group of sorts but I have to put the cross up and left of the target because cannot make any more adjustment. The rifle and scope was given to me by a good friend who has gone to live in New ZEALAND, and it is the first time I have tried to zero it, regards DAVE Quote Link to post
gluebeam 0
had same problem, turned out i had tightened the rings too much and the scope had actually bent off line, well thats in the bin might be same problem, are the fixing bolts on the mounts facing the same way, they could be out of line. Finkley 1
Hello mate, I used an old photographic negative strip cut to size to shim the mounts on my old rifle. It won't scratch the scope, swell or degrade when wet. Not sure why the scope needed the shims, but once fitted I didn't have a problem with it holding zero. Just my thougts, there must be loads of different things you could use, if that is indeed your problem. Hope you sort it. Cheers Steve Quote Link to post
ginger dave 63
took the scopes off today, what a job getting the right sized allen keys, under the back mount was a small piece of plastic, removed that reversed the mounts, reassembled, everything tightened up, eh presto gun shooting high, adjusted turret down and a couple of clicks right, what a difference, grouping now at 25 yards is brill, many thanks for all your help lads, atb DAVE Quote Link to post
