ianrob 2
Hi Lads, I've never been on this section before, however, the lad's just been getting a Beddy whippet pup which he's hoping to, "amongst other things" have a bash at lamping with next season. I offered to rig him up a car spot light with a battery, but oh no, it's gotta be a proper lamp. I've been looking in Countryman's Weekly and everywhere I can and I see hundreds of choices. Deben Lightforce Stryker. Now doing other things you ask the people who know, so I'm asking you guys, is there a best make, a best lamp, a best battery pack?. Please don't be afraid to reply in case not everyone agrees, just tell me what to look for, and what gizmos to avoid. Don't worry about the dog, because if it's not up to it, he'll get a bigger one, and I'll get the little guy to take ferreting. I look forward to reading your replies. Thanks in advance ian. chartpolski 24,392
Get the best you can, probably a 240 blitz, 'cause you can be sure if you get anything less, his mate will have a better one, and he will want to upgrade !! Cheers. Quote Link to post
jembo 0
There was a poll on here a few days ago about the best lamps, worth looking back for it. Quote Link to post

jackard 36
before you buy a lamp i would consider the land you are planning to lamp , if they are massive fields then go for the blitz ( blitz is like carrying a dustpin lid about ), if they are small fields then look at the other lamps i,e lance or striker Quote Link to post
brock1 2
if you just whant rabbits then i would recomend lance or a clueliteas most rabbits are round the out side of the field & if you lamp them often with a big lamp like a blitz they will be gone before you get in the field & you will only get the ode run for the dog from each field. but with a small lamp you will have to walk round the field to see then but they will not see you so easy ether as the beam is not as long as the blitz. rabbits dont run as far as other game so you dont need a big beam for them. but as allready sead he will see some one with a bigger lamp and whant one of them or whant to go for other game later so why delay the inevertable and pay twise just get the blitz with veriable power problem solved.
