I think 100 quid is fair but stil a little rich 4 me!

i have bred a couple of litters, n theres not many that has paid 4 a pup, nor have i if short.

I believe if u breed a litter of pups its because yr short n u need some up n comin, and if yr bitch has a good litter and u have picked out what u want, then yr mates usually get there hands on the spare, n if not a mate of a mate who is short.

the problem all stems from the show maternety whether u like it or not IMO

T a true workin lad there should b no or little cash exchange hands

i think its the fact that alot more pups are going to non working homes the amount of adverts i see with work show or pet is unbelievable one time lads used to breed for themselves and there mates now i see everyone walking about with pats i think theyll end up like jacks breeding for money and work will go out the window

I've paid good money for dogs, but the free ones have been my best workers. :)

In the US, I think $400 - 500 is fair asking for a GOOD working dog from proven working stock. Believe me though, you won't believe the prices some kennels in the US ask for their dogs. It's insane.

But when you have friends that hunt, we tend to make good deals between us and share the wealth :)

you can tell who's bred for the money just by the asking price, imo the main reason for breeding a litter should be to replace old stock or add to even. i also think the breeder is entitled to a few quid in return for there exspenses time etc £100 - £150 seems fair to me, but if a friend etc wanted a pup they should get it free of charge. the quality and breeding should be far more important than the price imo.

you can always tell a lot about a person who breeds a litter and sells the lot, you have to ask yourself why ;)

i agree to a point......... i have lots of mates when i have pups...lol.... had a mate!?! give me the whole working dog price for a working dog crap.. found out the f****r was knocking out borders for 400 a time , had others sell the pup {for far than i charged) because he didn't look like i thought he would at 6 months!!!!! so you think as i do now selling pile of shit never work for x amount, wants one from me cheap or for nothing whole I'm a worker lol for a hundred ? i think it all stinks ...and from now on I'll give to mates still have a few i trust ... .a friend in-need lol lol lol , the rest I'm going to sell ...........sad i know but what the f**k

i think its handy to give a couple away to good friends because you never know when you might need to use it, i dont do much digging really but i know enough to know anything can happen so it's always handy to know theres some of your breeding available to use if need be.

theres nothing wrong with selling a pup either, how many people do you know would give you a pup free of charge, i bet you could count them on one hand ;)

I found in the past that some pups I have given to "mates" have been passed on or even sold on. Any pups I gave away, I always told the lads I wanted first refusal if they weren't happy with their pup. Not one of those who let their pup go came to me first as I had asked. Since then I have given pups only to close friends who needed a pup at the time, the remainder have been sold, usually £150. That way it's their pup, they've paid for it and can do what they please.

but then are they really mates or just associates ? the people i call mates i can trust 100% so for the sake of a few quid they just would'nt put that friendship on the line ;)

I used to assume that fellow dogmen would be straight, but there are as many tossers in the game as anywhere else and I learned through experience that a handshake means F*ck all. Your right lucky, close friends only.

Give them away free to the genuine boys that share your blood and if they truely are genuine they will never pass the pup on if it isnt suitable, instead they will hand it back. its hard to find good guys and even harder to find good blood, but if you do then its worth being genuine. :good: theres more bullshit talked in this terrier game than anything...people saying they are only breeding for them selves, but you find they always have a pup for sale. They talk like a legend, but under scrutiny you find they dig 3 a year!!!! :D:D:D:D:D thanks god for those boys that keep money out of the equation... :good:
