Kye 77
I agree with Chilli,.. I used to breed around 30-60 ferrets a year,...most where bro/sis, father/daughter, mother/son matings...my line was tight, and they where GREAT workers...all based on an old jill named "Half-Tail",..i had some ratting with her and Royston2, and she KILLED nine adult rats, two of which had nests,...she lost her tail, and one ear...also a front foot,...i spent some good money at the vets getting her good, and she would still go on rats, never quit...although after that i just used her for rabbits, but every now and then she would find a rat in a rabbit warren and either bolt it or kill it!...i had a few days on rabbits with her that i remember well,...one day she bolted 21 rabbits, and i dug her to two that she had killed,..all single handed, although the warrens where not massive,..around 3-6 holes...still good going imo!...best ferret i ever had... If there are defects in the line, they will show up...i outcrossed when i had a few born with NO tails...little Bob-tailed ferrets!...pity Plummer didnt have them, he could have made a fortune!..lol. I kept a few alive, and culled the rest...they grew well and worked well, but i still didnt breed from them,...i brought in an outcross and had some great ferrets...funnily enough they all started off dark, and after ever molt they got lighter and lighter, until they was five or six years old, then they where almost black eyed whites!..lol.
