Game with Rifle

A local lad passed a pheasant on to me the other day. He said he had shot it with his .22lr rifle. I know he is allowed to shoot the game on his permission. What i am asking is is it legal to shoot game ie pheasnt, ducks etc with a rifle.

If he has Game Species specified on his FAC and the bird is in season (obviously is) then yes.

 

I expect he doesn't have Game Species listed on his FAC, and so is breaking the conditions of it by shooting them with the .22

The FAC Must list quarry..but moving to the wider picture...it is perfectly legal to shoot a pheasant/duck/goose with a rifle even with a lead bullet, where much of this quarry must be shot with lead free shot if using a shotgun in England!!

Yes chaps you are correct, Wales tends to mirror England...even though they have their own "Government"..but Scotland does often have a few differences (well... they could never agree on anything the English propose )!!
