Meerihunter 7
From what I've seen in photo's and from a contact in Pakistan the greyhounds are on bagged hare on graded surfaces Like park coursing in Ireland, totally different ball game to hunting wild hare out there in which they use arab/afghani saluki types which are said to be better than the greys as they don't get hurt. That is from the words of a Pakistani hunter I've spoke to via the net, The afghan dog of his pack being the best in his opinion. Pakistan isn't the Middle East, and all the people I know who fly their dogs from Arabia to Pakistan hunt wild hare and gazelle. They wouldn't dream of "park coursing" captive hares, but thats not to say it doesn't go on !! As we know in that area and Central Asia they course captive wolves and foxes, so probably hares as well !! Cheers. I never said Pakistan was the middle east I was addressing Leeviews point regards Greys in Pakistanm as a seperate point to the middle east and Kazakhstan point raised by HW. I would'nt attempt to challenge you regarding your experience of the M E during you time there. My information comes from young travelling arabs whom as you would expect I ask a lot of question of. I'm well aware that rich Arab's are not interested in travelling out to pakistan run bagged game (they do that at home). Quote Link to post

Once again, I seem to be at cross purposes; I keep seeing references to fen dogs being taken to the Middle East, yet I have never seen or heard of it, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just that I'd like to know where, then I would try and get these guys oppinions next time 1'm out there ! I know one Sheik who had two Lurchers from the Queens kennels, but the poor buggers never got out of their runs !! So, yes, lurchers do get out there, but I would like to talk to someone who has actually ran them ! Cheers. Quote Link to post

Leeview 791
it took a long time and it was worth the wait for a plastic bag chasing show dog to show that more then fen dogs can catch these illusive animals your entitled to your opinion I suppose and would a top notch lamping dog be a fair match for a fen dog IYO? Y.I.S Leeview I take it the answer is a no then Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post

Guest anonymous
Ok ASD can your dogs do this on the Fens? They are lamping dogs only But if they went lamping on the fens there would be f**k all left for the day walkers I don't know why anyone would want to lamp a hare, what a waste. If your dog isn't good enough to catch the greatest animal in Britian in daylight then you should stick to rabbits. Quote Link to post
