retrieving training

Recommended Posts

Ive been training a 6 year old hungarian vizsla to retrieve shot game like pheasants, rabbits etc. I have been told to put pheasant wings on the dummy and i have found freeze dried wings on the internet, Can i use wings just cut from a shot pheasant or will it rot and go smelly?. Do i just tye these to the dummy along with a few feathers? I am also going to tie rabbit skins to the dummy as well but wont they go smelly?

thanks

Greg :)

Hi Greg

you can use wings from a shot pheasant secured with elastic bands, but we also cover these with an old stocking to stop the young dog being tempted to pluck them off. Rabbit skins are good too. I have never noticed them going smelly but if they do just change them for new ones!
