My plan was to join the fire service when I came out of the Army – but I was rejected because of my conviction. It meant I was unemployable for anything I wanted to do.†classic! Public service is different to being a army lap dog, fighting your governments political war (as war-poodle to the superpower US big brothers to keep those lucrative contracts), money spent on our communities for protection, prevention and security is VERY different to money spent on killing populations of goat herders and innocent tradesmen in the Middle East. I don't believe in killing people, I believe in protecting people. Your job was to kill or be killed, bravery doesn't really come into it cos you have no choice once faced with a gun fight I'm sure. But these policemen are facing knives, attitude and chav warfare every night and they had my backing if they were a little rough on yet another drunk on our high streets, and this time one with a war-ego who resisted enough to get a little more-than-average restraint.
