Out today

Was out today with Deanflute off here. We met at farm about 8.30 got our things ready and away we went. First stop was a hedged dyke only 1 set of holes but looked active,nets on,ferrets in!!!!! nobody home. So we gathered up and moved on to the wood. Always plenty in the wood(famous last words) first set of holes NOTHING second set NOTHING hopes all on the last set, BINGO were in, 1 in the bag but thats all so we gathered up and moved on to a hedge in another field.There are a few holes in the field about 4 yards in but the rest are under the hedge so we dont fancy digging under there. Nets on ferrets in BANG were in rabbits hitting the nets and also running across the field (we only took 9 nets) but they there for another day. Anyway things got busy a couple of shallow digs,few more in the nets and we ended the day with 10. Thanks Dean for bringing the ferrets they worked well on their first outing i bet you smiled all the way home, i enjoyed the day will have to go again but on a different venue. heres end of day pics.

Cheers lads. I was starting to panic about half 12 thinking Dean has had an hours drive and we only got 1 in the bag you wouldnt believe how relieved i was when they started coming.

Just want to give a big thanks to Carl! i would have gone home a happy man just learning how to net and ferret in general. We had a slow start but ended very well! Not only was it my first day ferreting it was also my ferrets first day out and i think we have uncovered a gem in Nancy and Sid but especially Nancy...As soon as i get my own permission Carl is the first invite....Best saturday morning i have had in ages

 

Hope other people on this site can offer their expirence and keep the sport going like Carl has

It was a good day,all ferrets behaved better than my dog who for some reason just wanted to embarrass me but thats what i expect working with animals.Nancy is a firking good grafter. We lost her once when her collar got pulled off on a root(deepest and most annoying dig of the day)I have ferreted for quite some years now and in my oppinion she had at least 1 kill whilst uncollared. She is a damn good fert as far as i am concerned but all 3 worked well.
