Guest markbrick1
fair enough keep dodging the question by asking questions .... i realy dont care i only wanted the youngsters on this board to realise that its not an everyday thing to enter 5 month old pups in a coursing comp .......... YES TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT BUT DIDNT I AGREE WITH YOU SEVERAL PAGES AGO IT ISNT A GOOD THING TO LET YOUR PUPS CHASE LURES ESPECIALLY WITH A ADULT DOG BUT I DID AND MAYBE I SHOULDNT OF BUT SHE WON AND SHE WONT BE DOING IT AGAIN UNTIL SHES OLDER BUT SHE WILL BE RUNING AROUND THE FIELD WITH THE DOGS WHICH IS HARDER THANKS MARK Quote Link to post
Guest mush
socks I no it only a rag she was running but she was running it the same way . the first time she ran an adult dog ,I couldn't believe it the second time i watched how she ran. the other dogs where wound up and flying after the lure while she was just pacing, on every turn no mater what type of dog it would over shoot where as she wouldn't, she would be nearly up to the next gate before the other dog got back into it, each time taking longer to get back in , and missing the gates. I think marks answered your questions in a round about way i started one of my young bitches of on rabbit at about 6 1/2 months, but i think your right we should watch what we put as there are people new to the game reading are posts, I or you may no what their doing but they dont and they may try to copy us. i normally say if somebody ask what age to start them of on rabbit, 9-10 months as i dont know the dog and how it runs. Guest chilli
THANKS,your always good for talking shite, cant beat you there your going on about swearing then you do it yourself women allways contradict yourself !! Quote Link to post
Guest mush
ah i now see what you are talking about and why the pup won .... she was obviously being out paced by the adult dogs Some times yes but not most of the time who were gaining on the lure ahead of the pup as they were reaching the lure it was taking a %90 degree bend (something rabbits cant do) which was throwing the adult dogs off and they were missing the scoring gates .... the pup being a lot slower and just following behind was making the gates thus scoring points .... Sorry no as I said she was just pacing the lure , doing what collie x's are good at i have no doubt aswell that the older more experienced dogs sussed the movement of this lure and started straight lining to cut out the corners (as they would with real game) No because the aren't going to run to the gate and then turn are they their going to run straight at the lure but in doing this lost points in the coursing scoring system .... so in actual fact this baby won because she was slower thus making the gates (nothing to do with pacing) and because of her inexperience she just ambled behind the lure and and made the turns and scored points ........... no Quote Link to post
Guest HAWKEYE
listen mush I edited it cause it was pointless in arguing. Mark AS I said earlier well done on the prize but IMHO the pup didnt look developed enough to be entered and I satnd by that. I certainly hope that we will have a laugh and a crack about it at a show or whatever and who knows if we enter the lamping comp we might see each others dogs work and realise that there is more to hunting than arguing on the neT... SOCKS I AGREE WITH A BIT OF THAT AND A FEW LADS I KNOW WERE TRYING TO ANSWER THE QUESTION WHY DID SHE WIN IN YOUR THEORY A FAT LABRADOR OR COLLIE WOULD OF WON AND WOULD DO AT MOST OF THESE EVENTS AROUND THE COUNTRY IN THE SUMMER?????? NOWAY .SHE IS FAST NOT AS FAST AS MOST OF THE ADULT DOGS BUT FOR A PUP VERY FAST VERY SMART AND SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO CHASE AS AGAIN MOST PUPS WOULDNT EVEN LOOK AT IT ON THERE 1ST TIME SO DONT THINK IT WAS CAUSESHE IS SLOW AS SHE ISNT Quote Link to post
