Bedding

I am using straw at the min and wanted to no if there is any better types on the market, My ferret lives in my garage just want to make sure she will be warm.

i just use about 3 to 4 inches of shavings

shredded paper mate or hay or even a couple of old jumpers /fleeces they should keep her warm cheers DM

Straws fine, thats all i use with a good layer of shavings underneath.Why not get her a mate so they bed down together & keep each other entertained...

Just shove the bedding in if they get to warm they will drag out any excess

I start off with 2" of shavings in the bed area, and about an inch in the cage, Shortly after i end up with around 7" in the bed area and none in the cage! Never happy are they!

I've used sealed bagged straw and hay from pet suppliers, and found the critters with ticks on them shortly afterwards. (not even been out!)

A good bed of shavings will do i'm sure!

plenty of straw and they will be fine ,i use hay, shredded paper ,old jumpers even old coats and old quilt covers . what ever you can get stuffy plenty in they will chuck out whats not needed

Thanks for all the info just been and put a old jumper of mine in that should keep her warm and i am hopefully going to get another ferret in the next few weeks so they will be able to keep each other warm then.

Might well do that Kay, cannot harm them. (they were doing it all summer as well though!) Like there comfort's i think!

Dont use hay for bedding in the summer it overheats with the ferrets lying in it, ferrets then get overheated.

I would use dust free hay or if you got acess to white grass (feg) that can be useful be carful with clothing as their claws can get caught in it and cause some serious damage I KNOW !!!

That dog beddings good white strips of soft paper , if they get to warm they just shove it out & then drag it back if its gets a tad nippy

 

unlike here where i insist on a 13 tog quilt all year long regardless of the conditions, i cant bare to be cold
