depends on your shooting really mate ? the 22lr is know to fizz off on all ground sometimes but as long as your sure the shot is safe and you have a good backstop your be fine.

if the ground you shoot over is rocky then maybe hmr would suite better. how far are the rabbits you shoot at 60 to 80 yards max ? if so 22lr would be the best bet but ver that hmr is better.

i didnt use my 22lr that much so i perfer the hmr. if im shooting from 4x4 then 22lr is better for that i think. and more silent and cheaper

yeah 60-80 yard max really. im my part of wales its mainly grass land. i dont think ill be shooting from a 4x4 but the more silent the better in my opinion :)

That says .22LR with sub sonic ammo!!! Enough range, and VERY quiet!!!

HMR is noisy, even with a moderator!!

this may seem like a stupid question but do many of you guys find rabbits on cow and sheep farms or is it mainly on arable farm lands?. i was just wondering as the areas surrounding me are all cows or sheep and i dont get to see many rabbits when i go past the fields. or is it that im just not looking in the right place?

If you're looking for a rifle for almost all Rabbits, then I'd say go for a .22LR for all the reasons above.

It's quiet with a Moderator, Cheap to run, almost all Gunshops have .22LR (And in this part of Wales there aren't that many about!)

There aren't many Rabbits here at all, yes you can see plenty when you go out but if you shoot them, I think they would suffer, that's here, I've not shot in Ammanford so unsure of what they're like.

Theres a paradox in this area. You can see next to no Rabbits next to a field of wheat, and a good few on plain fields  Just need to check your permission or future permission :D

so were do you shoot sporting hunter? a few mins away from where i live there a health population but its very unlikely that you would get permission to shoot there. ive also seen some on a local golf course where i was a member but i dont know if they would be willing for me to shoot their either as its very busy! ( im going to ask anyway as i also know they have corvid problems, and my dad knows the green keeper well :) ).

but further away like 30 mins theres a rife population but ive just gotto work my magic on a friend of mine to get invited :).

btw i was wondering, what are the laws about shooting a rimfire in your garden ? my gardens about an acre and there plenty of lenght present for me to pratice along the side of the house. i have a neighbour on one side, a over grown field on another and a public woodland. if i used a back stop wish is sufficent would this be okay for praticing?

plus could i put this land down as permission on the fac?

All sorts of laws...including the Road Taffic Act...too complicated to fully explain but your back garden is not an approved shooting range, and seems you don't have small ground game and vermin listed, and your garden has not been cleared for .22LR, and, and, etc, etc...best discuss with your local Firearms department...ATB
