went out ferreting today

went out ferreting today with ian of here it was his first time out ... on my way walking to meet him i sure this bloke who lives across the road from me .. iv never really spoke to him but i knew he was into hunting .. well i started speaking to him and he said i can go out with him any time i want just give him a shout and his got loads of permission and i think im going out with him this saturday ....... well thets get back to the ferreting today well we done the first set it was about 26 holer look like there be rabbits in it . i put my 2 jills down but after about 45-60 minits nothink bolted so moved about 10 meters to the next one it was about 8 holer . after about 5 minits of puting only one of my jills down a rabbit bolted and then when ian was neting the hole back up another one bolted out the same hole then another one got out the net left it about about 15-20 minits then nothink so we moved about 15 meters to the next set .. lost about 3 out of there loads of secret bolt holes what u couldent see in the grass and just moved another few meters down got 2 out of that a lost another one ... the little rabbits was well luck today well in the end got 4 rabbits .. dident get any pictures of todays outing because i forgot my camera

I still say that on a 26 holer you are going to need more then two ferrets. What part of the country are you in?

im from essex mate ... yer i might get a couple of more ferrets im not that sure but the other day on about 36 holer about 6 rabbits bolted with only oner ferret down

im from essex mate ... yer i might get a couple of more ferrets im not that sure but the other day on about 36 holer about 6 rabbits bolted with only oner ferret down

 

but what you need to ask yourself, is how many were in there, that didnt bolt, on large warrens, theres lots of hiding places for rabbits, some will bolt, but if they hear comotion up top, voices etc some will sit tight, and having only 2 ferts down, allows them to do just that, but thats not to say, you need more ferrets, just make sure the people you go out with have ferrets too, that way, you all put your ferts down, 4 or 6 that gets bunnies in a panic, plus it means you havent got the outlay for more than two collars, and you all look out for each others ferts
