Guest night time my time
Iv lately been to a few whippet raceing meets,(odd bunch) to me all the dogs seem to be in far to skinny condition and couldnt possably be caperbale of a night on the lamp,i dont like to see the back bone on my running dogs, does anyone have any pics of working whippets or know better than me why a dog is run so thin? i realise they dont need the stamina of a working dog but they look terrible imo, thanks, Quote Link to post

Guest night time my time
handy looking little roughing pack you have there luke,D,G, i wasnt takeing about fat whippets more heavy built well toned dogs, the ones iv seen only have to run in a stright line, not my thing but not knocking it for those who enjoy it,just the dogs used dont look in that gooder condition, all ribby and spine and certianly uncaperbal of turning on a sixpence, these ones here of lukes seem a lot more the ticket,iv had my own in the past, one stolen, the other broke its leg so i tend to stick to dogs with a little more bone these days, Quote Link to post

firstrike 21
My black dog posing for a picture, we had done a few weeks of road work up to 6 miles per session and plenty of galloping on grass to get this condition.. after this amount of work he comes out of slips like a bullet.. Guest night time my time
certainly does look in good condition, all pics so far a credit to the owners and much stronger looking dogs than iv seen, in my opinion a dog can only benifit from good food and lots of road work, etc, Quote Link to post

mally 832
Very nice mally , what lines is she ? Hi Steve i bred the bitch myself out of my line bred sooty sam bitch back to a dog that i liked the look of even though he was from showlines. Alot of folk doubted my judgement in choosing a show dog but it's paid off for me as the mating has produced some cracking well put together pups that are doing the buisiness out in the field where it matters. Her Dam is Lucky Girl of Mallyfield (Quick as lightning x Fastfly) (fastfly = Sooty Sam x Oakbark Miss Lilly) (Quick as Lightning= Sooty Sam x Fast Fly) Her Sire is Scarletfair one Knight (CH Fullerton Dream Mover x pipijay starlight of scarletfair) Show lines I'm more than happy with the bitch, she's out 2-3 times a week lamping and a couple of days a week ferreting. A friend was down for a week a few weeks ago and we were out lamping 3 nights on the trot as well as ferreting, she takes work in her stride and as long as she gets good quality grub she doesn't lose condition...
