You can get a takeaway delivered to your door faster than an ambulance or the police.

Downside of the UK is that they have a "culture" of stealing dogs...here you can tie your longdog to your bike when you go to the supermarket but I would not dare to do that in England...but that is based on what I read only...

Go to Canada in January or February .... then say you'd like to live there  Lots of people couldn't handle it, winter is harsh especially out in the sticks.

I'd only go back if I could live out in the country, but I doubt I'd ever have the money for it.

Coldest I've been out in was -57 in the wind chill. Try that on for size when you're stood out waiting for a bus at 7am to get to work.

If you can get past the blistering cold, winter in Canada is a lot of fun. Doesn't half cost a bomb for gear warm enough to keep your bits from freezing off tho!

Yep, I lived in Ottawa for a few years before I came over here. It's SO COLD there, and it's flat ... so there always seems to be a wind blowing. But it's a very nice city.

Are you kitting up and heading over for a visit then Mack? Get yer thermals out or you'll be too cold to get your leg over

I normally choose to go to Canada in the winter. I am the sad one that skis at minus 20 with a neoprene face mask.. I have done snow angels on the side of a hotel swimming pool at minus 10...

I luv Canada in winter, ice fishing, dog sledding, ice canyon walking, snowmobiling, snow shoing, skiing, sledging, oh sh*t. i cant afford it this year..

Not sure if you'll like my views but I think its a great place to be. The standard of living is pretty good, compared to many countries a five hour flight away. The locals are ok, although some like to moan...particuarly the ones that don't get off their backsides and do something constructive. Money ain't that difficult to make to maintain a reasonable standard, makes me laugh the people complaining about being skint ......with wide screen tv's on the wall, 20 cigarettes a day, out twice a week and a car on the drive. Although, to be fair, the last 6-month financial problems have changed this somewhat :(

Its fairly safe here, I'm fairly secure in the knowledge that my wife and kids can go outside at night without getting raped, mugged or shot at because of the colour of their skin, their religious beliefs or what tribe they belong too. Not something you can say everywhere else in the world.

If I get knocked down, I'll get good healthcare generally, and quickly contrary to what others believe. And if I fall on hard times I'll get some degree of support from the government.

There are down sides of course. CCTV is rife...yet has little factual link to reducing crime  . Some areas further South (London) are over poulated and and beaurocracy seems to assume that whatever happens in London is applicable to the rest of the UK. The weather is variable and the locals, although happy to moan, aren't often proactive enough to make a stand and do something for their community. Many random plonkers complain about the level of immigrants....so their obvious answer is to say they will leave the UK....errr...slightly ironic don't you think???

Me, I'm 13 mile from the sea, 10 mile from an airport, 50 mile from the lake district and 1/4 mile from a field. All in all, I wouldn't leave here if you paid me. And I've had several offers. ;)
