terrierbitch 1
thers a toy you can get that keeps em occupied for hours,i forget the name but it looks like a butt plug, haha, its hallow and you just put some paste inside it or cheese and the dog spends ages trying to chew it out licking it out.its a chewable rubber cone shape toy, costs about 3.50.my mate swears by em and reccomended to me for my dogs.it stopped his dog chewing house to bits and from barking when left. #1poacher 8
hi when you take the other dog out of the kennel if he is barking or whinging have a cup of water and through it at him and say Noooooooo it might take a couple of attempts.then you could think about giving him a treat like a bone . Meerihunter 7
Exercise him well before you go out, if he is tired and contented you won't get half as much trouble with him. take the other dog out and put it in the motor out of sight of the pup well before leaving then the pup will forget you have the the other dog out by the time you leave and you can 'check' any nonsense from the pup. Exercise is the key especially with a saluki saturated dog. Quote Link to post

I think people put a lot of time into training their pups for working, i.e recall, retrieve, stay leave but don't take the whole dog into to account. They are not a tool that you take out for hunting like a gun an put back in the cupboard when finished, they are alive and have needs, If I was left in a kennel and my only companion was taking away i would make a fuss and then to be hit with a stick for my worries Maybe you need to step back look at the whole picture and why the dog is behaving in such a way, find a solution where your not just supressing the dogs insecurities but training the dog to be confident well adjusted so he can cope on his on! Guest anonymous
Couple of suggestions..... 1) Sell house and buy a caravan and park it in the country no where near anyone. 2) Take dog with you hunting. 3) Give up lamping and take up ferreting, if dog barks during the day, no probs. 4) Buy yourself a microphone, oscilloscope, inverter and a speaker, when the dog barks into the mic, the oscilloscope will pick up the sound waves, the inverter will turn them 180 degrees on themselves, pass through the speaker in exactly the opposite frequency as they are arriving from the dog, thus cancelling each other out and providing total silence. Hope these suggestions help! Quote Link to post
Sexy_Shot 5
i recently had a wineing pup and the solution i used whilst going out was give him some food e.g. bone, bisuits and that usualy does it , dont forget to try the liver Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
had the same problem. heres what i did Took the big dog out, started the car and pissed off down the road (the dogs know the sound of my car coming & going) Parked down the road and walked back up, and dealt with the problem by means of a good old shouting & threatening with the hose pipe (he reacts to the shouting now) Now i can take the big dog out and leave the larl fella on his own, and i dont get phoned up at midnight to come home and sort it out Quote Link to post
