skycat 6,174
I'm thinking you mean Hydrogen Peroxide (not the hair dye stuff though!) Get it from the chemist: dilute 50/50 with water and use for cleaning out infected, pussy or dirty wounds. Don't keep using it over and over again on the same wound though as it cauterizes the flesh and slows down healing. Don't use it on a clean open wound for the same reason. What HP does is bubble dirt/infection to the top where you can then clean it off. Great for infected bites too.
TOPPER 1,809
i find the best hp with the terriers is to get the pen like things for cleaning contact lenses these have hydrogen peroxide in them and are ideal for bites etc
Cornio 0
I've used it on myself before now and it certainly cleans out all the crap.
Lennard 10
Some people here use Chlorox for dirty toes with bacterial or fungal infections...also an oxidising agent but cheaper...I have no directions for use though... L

YOKEL 2,310
thanks evry one thats a great help thanks again. i used to use peroxide to flush out wounds but no more. if you are going to use it be aware it comes in different strengths, get the weakest available(about 3 or 5%) as this stuff burns. i go for the saline eye wash pods myself, excellent for flushing out shite. Know I saying click on the link there’s much better and safe products available i'm well aware what products are available, and had the fella asked for advice on anti bi's i'd have commented on them, but i believe he asked about the use of peroxide, hence the subject title. would like to add, that if alot of minor wounds are flushed out well and kept clean there is no need to use anti bi's, used to often when not needed they become useless as the dog becomes immune to them. MuttleMcTuttle 21
The only time I've used hydrogen peroxide was on a horse with a serious leg wound which was unable to be stitched and developed proud flesh. It did clear the wound and it healed ok, but for general cuts and scrapes I find a good wash with hibiscrub and a dusting of wound powder, with antibiotics if necessary, is usually sufficient.
