undisputed 1,664
Here's my view for what it's worth. Some folk like to stick to one quarry and have dog's for that purpose and nothing more which is a shame cause there's so much more to hunting than charlie or bigger game. A dog that's versatile and can turn it's hand to any aspect of hunting deserves respect and should be treated accordingly. Limiting yourself to one type of quarry reduces the enjoyment imo and very few dog's are given time to mature properly before being thrown in at the deep end and it's sink or swim and the sinkers get moved on or labelled with the jibed tag. It's a shame we cant apply the same logic to owners that jibb that we do to the dog. I think there's more owners not fit for purpose than there are dogs. Quote Link to post
Guest MY LAW
FROM PUP TO GRAVE ,the dog is what i make it and the amount of game available to run it on ,and most of all how much i am willing let it learn and at what[ AGE] which to me is the main factor of the making of the dog ,[notice i said I]it is what has worked for me for the last 25 years .and i only work the same dog on all i want it to catch, untill it cant do it any more then it sits in the sun untill it final day . Giro 2,648
in all honestly if a dogs good it stays... If its not worth a carrot its gone... You cant keep a dog that cant catch its own grub... if its old and served its time it derseves to stay in the run but young stuff thats crap has to go... Quote Link to post

mistwalker 0
Mrs Misty the 1st told me to choose between her and the dog "He's JUST a dog, you can always get another any time"... He's lying at my feet at the moment, 11 1/2yrs old, a bit arthritic, my 2yr old daughter's all over him and he loves playing with her. He was a decent all-rounder, not too clever on daytime hares but held his own, worked everything else well - has his faults - he was quite hard-mouthed though, rabbits were only good for the stinkers, but he ALWAYS gave me 100% - definitely the standard by which all others will be judged. Stick with them, work at it and have a long, happy life with your dogs as far as I'm concerned. What's that? What happened to Mrs Misty 1st? Oh, I'm sure the door didn't hurt her arse too much on the way out Quote Link to post

brookie 1,193
Of course you are only looking for an argument !! But a well bred pup in the right hands will allways be better than a cur in the wrong hands !!Cheers. most sensible thing written on here in ages........ the next battle is stopping people thinking their crap dogs are good and breeding from them. these are the two most sensible sentences i have read on this site in a long time Quote Link to post
