I think the problem is that in this country we are all too quick to breed on pedigree rather than taking stock of the dogs traits, working and conformation go hand in hand for me be it KC registered or not. i think there are stricter rules when registering puppies so there parents have to be proven in their work. That way you are more likely to get working registered dogs that will show and work. In this country there are fewer strains of KC dogs that work and show because for some reason showing your working dog is deemed 'molly coddling' by some and working your expensive show dog is considered by some to be just too risky. Well i do both work and show with mine (labs and lurchers) and they do both very succesfully and im proud to have such good dogs. Quote Link to post
manipulus 4
The fox is a beast of prey on Hungary. In a whole year without a limitation can be shot, can be hunted. The badger has a hunting prohibition. In a whole year can be hunted the raccoon, marten dog, jackal. Quote Link to post

Good point Last time I was at the all winners show in the netherlands, it was amazing how many dogs had working photos on there pens as well as rosettes, many people do both. It's just not the same here sadly Quote Link to post

john hubery 9
In ansaw to Farlap, no I dont think I have missed the point here, there show stock and the show dachshunds in the UK are a world apart, I think I made my feelings clear on this subject in another post on the UK Teckel society, which at one point got rather heated, I still stand by what I said, no way would I want any UK KC blood in a working teckel/dachshund in my kennels, this is only my opinion but why would any one want to dilute good working blood with UK KC stock, now I dont want to take any thing away from this exellent thread, if we are going to talk of UK KC dogs lets open another thread, and keep this one going like Dog Fox this is of great intrest to me and I hope others Quote Link to post
dog fox 16
i would agree with john on that one , most european countrys ,make there dogs win there certificate for showing ,if the dog doesnt make the grade by drawing something from a man made earth then its a failer and wont be bred from or shown at shows , one thing ive noticed is how far back its front legs are and how its chest sits down protecting them when its working .alot has gone into these dogs in the past ,and the europeans have bred them exackly the way they want them and a good job they have done to . so why start messing with the blood like john says and i agree with ,it would be better to go and get the same stuff and carry on what others have done for you . jmho ,,,,,,,you looked on the website you,ll see that his dogs are worked on all game aswell as shown at shows Quote Link to post
