i bought an A C M E crow call it works well but you've got to hide really well i have heard that some tight's over the front of the scopes work's really well it stops the front len's flashing in the light and stop's the glare so the crows cant see the scopes i also found that when i start calling in the crows the magpies allway's come in to have a look but a little movement and the magpies are off also try making a nest out of some grass and put a couple of chicken eggs in the nest with 1 broken open and put some clingfilm under the nest to stop the egg soaking away and put it on the floor in the field the magpies cant resist it

I heard the rabbit with its guts hanging out, but with a Plastic decoy crow stood next to it really helps draw them in apparently, when they think someone else is getting a free meal :D

not tried it myself this was advice to someone else on another forum ;)

hi bigeddie

for the best results for controling mags and crows [if hoodies] bait a spot with scraps bones etc from the butchers bait the spot every other day for a week put scraps approx 25 yards into a large field set up hide or camo netting in hedge/cover you will need to be completly covered ie camo face net/gloves etc then the day you go to shoot get there30 min before it gets light thats how we do it here in ireland but we use shotguns we often get upto 50/60 crows and mags in a morning between 5/6 guns the action only lasts about a couple hours max but a very productive way of controling these birds

all the best

decoy the crows and rooks with dead birds on cradles, a flapper can also work well. i would use a shotgun as for every one that lands at least ten will come close enough for a shot with the shotgun

these were shot last year over decoys on a pig farm. 182 picked up

Went out this morning to shoot the crows and failed :cry: i placed the rabbit out at 25 yds and put a crow decoy next to it then sat in the hide all camoed up about hour later two crows landed nearby so i waited for them to get near the rabbit as they were a bit far away to shoot(35yds)didn't want to risk wounding, as one started to peck the rabbit i raised the airrifle and the crow must have seen it and flow off shouting i stayed for a couple more hours then left.I could hear crows calling in the distance but none came back.Still i will be out again after them i will not give up :D cheers bigeddie

ive never used baits. i think the big bags are made when the crows rooks etc would be there in numbers anyway. pig farms are the best magnet for corvids, you also see them on fresh plough, drillings etc. if your ground doesnt have any of these features and you still want to concentrate on crows then i would observe to see if they have a favourite perch.

good luck

crows you have to be there before they do ,in other words get there when its dark in the morning and catch them coming in to the farm to feed in ones and twos ..waste of time going in to a field full of crows as they will all piss off never too be seen again ,crows are one of the hardest birds to kill as they arnt daft ,unless you get your deeks just right ,same as shooting feral pigeons in the day time ,shoot one and leave it there ,dont go geting out your hide or hideing place to pick it up unlesss you know theres no birds coming in to see you ,crows will talk to there mates and let them know you are about so dont be seen or the games up ,when your taking aim do it real slow like no sudden movements unless your useing a boom stick :D if you are try putting a dead crow on its back with its wings spred out just the one though ,make sure its on its back looking up at the sky ,the crows will come over looking and hovering over the dead crow calling for it to get up ,good for the shotgun this one :good:

You can get big bags of crows over layed barley or layed wheat in the summer months.A few decoys on bamboos will get you away no problem ;) .Very big bags of crows can also be taken in winter while they are going back to roost in mid afternoon.Find a flight line and get set up under it with a few decoys and your in for a busy afternoon.Theres no need to be up at the crack of dawn for these two methods of crow shooting :good: .I use a shotgun for both these types of shooting ;)
