Guest JohnGalway
Hi folks, Can I ask you all to write to your local TD's about the Governments handguns ban please, you can read their proposals >here<, it's short. It doesn't have to be fancy, just keep it polite and outline your concerns. The vast majority of us are law abiding, hard working, decent people. we're going to be punished for what criminals are doing as our great glorious leaders don't have the spine to tackle crime in Ireland. In case anyone thinks this will only affect pistol owners, and may be of the opinion well I'm alright Jack, please let me draw your attention to this point in the proposal; • the Minister will keep under annual review, in consultation with the Garda Commissioner, the outcome of the licensing procedure and, if the outcome of that procedure leaves a situation which still poses an unacceptable risk to the community, will use new powers, which the Bill will contain, to ban outright any type of firearm. So, if this proposal is passed, your semiautomatic shotgun or rifle, your .223 or any calibre rifle could be banned for absolutely no good reason other than a see through PR stunt by an abysmal administration. I suggest you write to your local TD, the leader of the Party you support and also their justice spokesperson. No passed firearms law in this country has ever been repealed. Once it's passed we're stuck with it whether it's good law or bad. For the good of your own sport/hobby, pick up a pen, keyboard or phone and start getting on the case of the people who's wages YOU pay. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Get on with it Guys & Gals. If they get their way, you may never see a Sporting firearm in Ireland again. SS Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Its as good as done, it's shocking to think that the goverment are labeling us in the same boat as that of the common day criminal............ Quote Link to post
Paddywoodcock 0
Well spotted JohnGalway! This law has to concern exclusively "handguns". Isn't there any lobby of influence (tourism agencies, gunstores) that could fight this ban at a higher level? Quote Link to post

scalder 0
something has to be done .at the moment they are concentrating on pistols but what if some asshole starts shooting people with a rifle or shotgun they will then ban all firearms and we are the ones that will pay for it . oh wish the government would ever cop the f**k on and sort this out properly .. why have the shooting organisations not kicked up about this and called some type of rally or meeting with all licence holders and government reps ???
