whin 463
good pics , but come on the ground looks perfect, get them over some shaly land and plough or lamping three nites a week sleeping outside with no coats but in good kennels , ask them to stand over big warrens for an hour or two waiting for bolters ,winds blowing of north sea, please dont insult a mans intellegent ,whippets are racing good little dogs but not as hardy as any well bred collie cross or beardie cross or saluki cross and no were as versatile , a few hares doesnt make it a champion or we would all have them , ive saw my beardie grew bitch lye in snow go over rivers catch rabbs and bring them back , sit in the damp weather all day ferreting day in day out catching bolters and any that slips the net ,whippets are not shite dogs but are not great allround working dogs for harsh weather , and even harsher ground sometimes , i wish they were ,they lose condition that a good beardie cross thrives on, or tougher border cross does ,thye will suit alot of people tho but not everybody as they aint got it for hard work they were not made or bred that way has any use worked the scottish borders in winter for several seasons on rabbs i dont think so not with pure whippets, in all weathers Quote Link to post

chartpolski 24,636
Whin, when you say "grew", do you mean in the accepted sense, i.e whippet x greyhound, or are you using the term as a shortened form of "greyhound" ? Cheers. Quote Link to post

I run on old pit land slag heaps and the like, he excells over ploughing doesnt feel the cold like some. sleeps in the kitchen with my other dogs..stands around waiting for bolters the whole package. cant compare him though with a lurcher because he aint one.. when i wanted a whippet lurcher i got this dog.. he was no better than the black dog.. Brimmer 220
From what whin has said, the guy talks a lot of sense. Nice to see piccies of the whippet firstrike, it has caught some good quarry. Liked the piccie of the other dog more though, looks like it had a bit more to it. I would like to think if you took the little black dog for a 60+ day in the dales, it would come away alive. Quote Link to post
