the locater is findeing the coller but not telling me the corect distance dose anyone know any reasons why it would do this

hi mate have you tried changing the batteries plus is it a pinpointer locator thanks

yes its a pin pointer DM . the batteries are new that i got with it so id think they would be ok but i will buy some new ones tomorrow and give them a go

try it outside mate the lights n telly n things like that can interfear with the reading

its not giving me an accurate reading for example its saying 4 foot when its at 2 foot .

 

also should the led lights be red ( for some reason i thought they should be green)

It's quite normal for the mk3(or at least the ones I've used) to be pessimistic when giving a guide to depth.I have a letter from Debens which admits that the gauges are not accurate..They are taking the micky charging £130 for a bit of kit that can overestimate depth by up to 75 or even 100% . On the bright side ,once you know that a 4ft reading actually means only a two foot dig there is no problem. The answer ,as has been said is to read the instructions and then have a good play until you are familiar with the tool and it's quirks. good luck
