can whippets only be worked on easy ground

Recommended Posts

Thats better artic, earlier when you said your always practical I was expecting you to stick a pic up of your whippet :) I thought you must have had or worked one, thats what I meant by an ounce of practical beats a ton of theory :) Anyone can theorise, but its only those who have actually owned or worked a whippet who can actually speak from experience ;)

Thats true Mac, i have never owned a whippet, and have no intention to do so. I have seen first hand of whippets working this way on invites, and to be honest im not shocked at the way they struggled with the quarry!

My dogs work the land where the big boys go Mac ;) where people travel miles to come and get some decent slips for their dogs, or make DVD's.... ;)

No place for whippets............ :)

Dont get me wrong they have faults.....

They can catch the odd hare but their not coursing dogs,

They can catch the odd fox but their not the best foxing dogs,

But they have a better acceleration than any lurcher, but not the stamina of a saluki x

if you want a little dog for a bit of ferreting and lamping rabbits you cant go far wrong.

they are easy to train retreiving, recall etc and calm around the house

I can only give the my opinion based on the two whippets i have owned.
