mackem 26,941
I think the only people who can answer the original posts are those who have owned whippets and worked them around the british isles for several seasons to evaluate their performance Quote Link to post

mackem 26,941
Bedfordshire was never exactly renown for its arduous terrain, ask your mate with the frail fragile whippet to take you north, try parts of yorkshire and northumberland, its a little different Quote Link to post

I even gone as far as Spain and Sicilly to run my dogs! Now thats rough hunting ground!!! I aquired my dog from Yorkshire, stayed there 2 weeks had fun too. Dogs did really well. Northumberland too, beautifull place, lovely people, i liked it very much. Quote Link to post

artic 595
Which part of the north was the guy from who sent his whippet back up? I think Adam said it was Pately Bridge. Paltley Bridge? Quote Link to post
mackem 26,941
Patley bridge in yorkshire?Cant imagine your area is any different, certainly havent seen anywhere in your county I wouldnt feel confident in running a dog.Give me a few days,I have some negatives of my first dogs up in the loft, let me get hard copy from them, whippet types that we all had as kids,I have a decent pic of a few rabbits they caught over a couple of nights on really hard ground in northumberland, never got a nick, scratch, nor mark on them, they werent pure whippets, just sold as whippets But an ounce of practical is worth a ton of theory Quote Link to post
