lawrence your not thick, look at a collies feet a saluks feet, hounds feet, now look at a whipps feet and greyhounds feet why do u think we cross them mate stoppers better skin thicker a round hocks but you do get some with good feet and well pure breds were never ment to go flat out over shitty land even tho they do as ive had several greyhounds but well they are all diffrent , if you bring a greyhound up or whippet , thye learn not to fly about mad on game but you will get injuries regulary on some land that a good saluk cross or colli cross wouldnt because of the extra pace at times and realy are the pure whippets u talk about not just smooth coated lurchers with a whippet tag on them

Don't get me wrong FF; I love Salukis and have owned pure desert bred and crosses and would have one again, but intelligent, they're not !! LOL !!

ive owned lurchers for over 40 yrs and the most intelligent dogs ive owned have been salukis and saluki crosses the most consistant dogs ive owned have been saluki crosses and you will not get better feet than a salukis i personally would not entertain a dog if it didnt have saluki blood in it but every one has theyre preferences

i run a saluki lurcher plus whippets i have been in the dog game for twenty

odd years now theres ground around here that would rip the feet off a

50lb lurcher that the lighter whippet gets away with and we are talking

I would love to have a whippet for small fields and difficult terrain. As with any dog you have to let it teach itself HOW to run BEFORE they get old and fast...they have to get to know what to do with holes and wire and make proper decisions what they can do and what not. I take a pup and let it scramble around on heavy terrain in its youth. Dogs have to use their heads in stead of crashing into everything.

i have them out as pups had pup with big dog last nite learning ropes, but if they have pace to burn and not strong boned or stong footed they get foot injuries , u cant expect a pure bred track dog ,whippet ,greyhound to run a fast animal and expect it to last you five seasons etc now maybe these pure whippets are not as fast as grews or non registred whippets i dont think they are ,but maybe there better footed ,as less pace ,and drive . weel see i believe the lighter the dog less feet damage but less pace and well some qaurry you need pace and stamina

done thousands of rabbs luke , and been to several feild trails at the nlrc i think to get good alround rabbit crosses u need something else in them for trainability fetching workng cover, i do like them but no there capabilities saw little whipps struggle with rabbits fetching them ,shivering in cold , u dont need to spend money for a pure breed to catch a few rabbs everybody got there own idea of rabbit dogs , my best was beardie cross grew and line bred collie grew got vids and had people from beatock area out with them and several people they all had whippet in them but diluted bud ,but were very good fetchers hunters tough in shitty weather , saw whippets tiol on rough scree grass not got the height or leg to get over the ground , but on short grass they would be good as i have one and no her capabilities away now for to catch some game

hi folks,I've had a few whippets over the years,brilliant wee dogs,but what youv'e got to keep in mind is a whippet is built for skooting and for the people that keep whippets you'll understand this. it runs a certain way using it's back legs to propell itself only just touching the ground with its front feet so when you put that on rough uneven ground or sinky ground basically they just don't go but should you get it on the right terrain ie:flat,good to firm, then you'll have what I can only describe as the perfect rabbit dog, bearing in mind you would be hard pushed to run more than 100yrds after a rabbit but not saying that a whippet isn't capable of running more than 100yrds so in my oppinion if its rabbits you are after you wont get a better dog

when i had the dog i was 16 no car i could not get to linces 2 or 3 times a week i was out with my dogs near every night or morning the dog being a 3/4 saluki could not run were i live lol not like a smaller dog will
