JPTfellterrier 65
basically was thinking of getting a whippet as there seems to be loads in the paper near me, but a mate has said that the ground that i would be running it on(quite hilly and can be uneven/woodland) might be a bit dodgie for it and cause injury!!!they then suggested a x-racer grey or a beddyxwhippet(but i aint seen any beddyx's advertised near me),what do you lot think? as im just wanting it as a rabbit dog. dangergirl 13
My whippet is 6 months now and rough ground was my main concern; as i live on a dairy farm and obviously the ground is rough as rats! But to be honest its really not bothered him, and believe me hes been flying everwhere. Hes obviously not worked properly yet, but i really cant see it being a problem. The working bred whippets seem to have a bit more bone about them and my dog certainly has a good set of sure feet. DG Quote Link to post
JPTfellterrier 65
aye sounds grand, me and the terriers might go on anouther road trip ,they love the train, mainly because its the only time they are aloud to sleep on somthing similar to a sofa Edited November 25, 2008 by JPTfellterrier Quote Link to post

Guest reload
I agree with Whin...for hard hilly rough running, I would look for a more robust dog than a pure whippet....better skin, and substance. No offense meant to any pure whippet fans Quote Link to post
dangergirl 13
I do agree, a cross would be hardier, whippets do have thin skin. Quote Link to post

artic 595
There's one Saluki around here that charges the lamp, goes off lamping, kills its quarry, skins and cooks them all by himself... Beat that! There not that thick as people make out they are. All to do with the one to one training! Like everything else.... Saluki x Grey x Sal/Grey/whip should do the trick. Maybe a little deerhound added to the mix........ Quote Link to post
