SportingShooter 0
Just bought a pair of Meindl Dovre Extremes, very impressed Though maybe one of the others in the range would be more suited to long distance walking SS
thepriest 0
Like the others say Meindl make some quality footware. All our guys out in iraq and afganistan are wearing their dessie version. Well worth the money
Guest JohnGalway
I've stopped buying expensive boots, they don't seem to hold up to the ground here. Trying ex paratrooper boots now, have the a couple of months at least and they're doing well as long as I keep using the dubbin on them

Have a search around the outdoor/walking shops. £85 should get a pair of goretex Meindls. They are bloody good boots.
Aled 521
I bought my pair of home brand Blacks walking boots 4 years later and they are still in good nick. They were reduced from £ to £50. Blacks or Millets. Cheers Aled

That was 4 years ago....I wear them 3 or 4 times a week and sometimes for 24 hours at a time if i am working in hostile area.....I wore them for a week and only took them off twice on one job i was on in september. they never rub and are always waterproof to an unbelievable level. What more can I say.
Cornio 0
Lots of boots are advertised as 100% 'waterproof', 'breathable' and 'warm'. There is no way that either of these are acheived in unison. They can meet halfway and, depending on the boot, will swing one way or the other. The more waterproof they are, the less breathable - this creates sweat and you get cold feet. The more breathable they are, the less waterproof and with wet feet again, you'll get cold. Gore-tex is good but it still doesn't allow enough permeation for sweaty feet. The perfect material is yet to be discovered. Your choice of sock is just as important and you need to choose something that can 'wick' the sweat away from you - wool is still a great choice.
