Kay 3,709
Probably not the best person for imput on this thread as i dont work any dogs , but i think if you have say 3 dogs, all working well & living in harmony why add more & risk upseting the ballence Also food costs & veterinary costs as well, no point in having half dozon big dogs when you have to limit what you feed & even something as simple as worming for 4 large dogs is going to set you back around 20 quid every 3 month if you innoculate theres the cost of that was well , then theres the unexpected accidents you will need to fork out for as well , i think if you have plenty of room, time & money then have as many as you want Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Again as above, 2 would be my limit. I do think that you can easily get the best and the most out of both animals. For me, the work I give my dogs, any lurcher of any type, should be treated as a jack of all trades but it's also a preferance to keep two differing types of lurcher.... it just makes life more interesting! Though, each should be of different age, a few years apart, allowing for training whilst still having a 'made' dog to run, also, this makes for an easier time when dogs start ageing, again having one dog to run. Just my thoughts Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I only ferret with my dogs, odd times out lamping, so two's more than enough for me. Quote Link to post

nbk 0
i think rabbits two is plenty when it comes to fox more the better as you can have one injured and run aother and while them two are injured run another so on so on.... by the end of this season i will have three working dogs in my kennel and two pups Edited November 25, 2008 by nbk Quote Link to post
Lennard 10
Depends a bit on what they have to do. If they are just kenneled and exercised and are used for rough hunting only it is different from when they have to be supersocialized with cats, traffic and stay alone at home and be superobedient. I think 2 or 3 is a good number, 1 old, 1 normal and 1 young coming up. But I have 2 now and that is enough combined with the rest of my life. L Quote Link to post
