Mr_Logic 5
OK, so you will need something to help estimate drop. Under £300, secondhand is good. Bushnell 4200 might be OK, want the mildot ret though. Or MTC, worth a look if you like the ret. Works well but not great under the lamp, EXCEPT on rimfires when the range is short. Or a Falcon Menace 7.5x50, which is mildot with good adjustments and pretty good glass. Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
No need to go mad ! Depends on what you are going to be trying to do. You will most likely will be shooting at about 20-60 m with the odd long shot. With hardly any recoil on rf rifles shock is not a big issue. keep it simple with reticules as if night shooting or in poor light tactical/mill dots are hard to see. Try to resist the temptation to have all the bells and whistles . You could have a variable although most people keep them on one mag and sometimes wind them up to check targets on the range as high mags need a firm rest. Provarmint is pointing you in the right direction but don't spend all your budget on glass as you also need good mounts. Take a look at the simmons master series prohunter 3-9x40 £ 125 42mm objective lens should be about the max you should need. Edited November 25, 2008 by coldweld Quote Link to post
Lewdan 17
Average killing range for rabbits with sub-sonic ammo i about 50/60 yds no need for all singing, all dancing optics buy a decent mid range scope without parallax adjustment ( pain in the butt) about £150, i tend to go fixed mag , but it,s your choice Keep the rest of the cash for another investment perhaps a centrfire Cheers Quote Link to post
philip140 6
i favor the burris fullfield II, i have one on my savage .22lr in 3-9x40 and i find the ballistic plex reticle very handy without needing to adjust target turrets for different ranges and for the price the optics are superb. i personally like adjustable parallax, but that's just me. arveyboy 0
i have a nikko sterling nighteater 4-16x50 with mil-dot reticle on my cz 452 style and it does just what i want it too. havnt had an oppurtunity to use it at night yet but during the day its great. looking at a rabbit at 267 yards it looked crystal clear. obviously shooting it at that distance was another thing. good optics you wont be disappointed Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
for 22lr i would go with a 3x12x44 or 50 Quote Link to post
