fighting hobs

I started out with 2 hobs but sadly within a few month i lost 1 so replaced it with another hob... after few month leading into the summer the pair started fighting, i guess both were competing for to be the dominent one. i split them up as one was getting sores over back of neck & have kept them apart ever since but they do work together with no problems & when given the run of the yard they are fine.

What id like advice on is that would they be best kept apart as im doing or put them back in together again?

they should be ok at this time of year ,hobs will be hobs during the breeding season and will pick on each other ,its not nice when they get sore necks being ragged about by each other ,i get mine castrated that sorts them out takes their minds of it

Cheers for the advice folk, is it worth getting them snipped? or shall keep old hutch to put 1 in come breeding season?

getting them "snipped" wont change them in anyway what-so-ever, just they will fire blanks, therefore useful to get jills out of season, get them castrated will stop the urge, but both would need doing, otherwise an intact hob will still shag a castrated hob,

what a load of bollocks, where did you read that, an american publication, work or smell wont change one little bit, unless your referring to having there scent glands removed, a barbaric operation that is not allowed in the uk, seems its ok in other countries where theres a big pet market, :wallbash:

if you dont like the smell, get a goldfish

Everyone has a opinion, you have yours.

I have 1 entire together with 6 Hobs, no fighting or shagging, they get on just fine.

Cut hobs don't come in season, thats why we have them cut as I work mine 12 months of the year.

I agree the removal of sent glands is a barbaric operation but some do it for the pet trade.

Cut hobs don't come in season,

what operation are you putting the word "cut" too :hmm:

over here, snipped hobs, vasectamized, fire blanks, still get randy and shag each other

castrated (no balls) dont get the urge to shag, thus not come into season as you put it,

but if I left my castrated, in with my six entire hobs in the summer months, he and all others would get shagged senseless, I cant understand how your saying, yours dont :hmm:
