COMPO 54
take him places with lots of rabbits, let him hunt about and hopefully sight/chase a rabbit, when it makes the cover he may follow, he will given enough opportunity and when he realises he can chase them through the undergrowth and he associates the smell with the rabbit and the fun of chasing he will be in there at the slightest scent Quote Link to post

russell tuck 127
hi pal could try takin him ferretin bolt the rabbit and let him chase them . or leave one live in a cage trap for him so he will get rev'd up then give him a dead one to have a shake off try that a few times so he will relate the scent with the rabbit then he nows what he's huntin . all the best with him hope he turns out well for you Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
Think it will be a job trying to stop a terrier doing this anyhow, they seem intent on ratching around from a few months old! Give em the chance and they'll do it. (sometimes it's better to start them early as well, they learn not to keep running at rabbits they are never going to catch over the hill and far away!) Molie1337 35
I started mine as soon as she was allowed out after jabs on mice, moved onto rats a couple of months down the line, get yourself a live catch trap, get a rat in it, as soon as he shows interest let it go, and the rest is (or will be!) history! As for bushing, i just took her out with the air rifle, and she was holding down shot rabbits as big as her! now shes got the idea of smell theres no stopping her bushing! Quote Link to post
