lost ferret

fergie

One of my ferrets escaped the other day; it had to be my favourite one and one of my best workers. Well she was missing for 3 days after ringing the RSPCA I was told that a ferret of the following description had been found. As a beige, jill, with a pink nose. Well this sounds nothing like my jill as she is quite a dark polecat with an off pink nose. But she was found about around half a mile from my house. After a further conversation with the RSPCA it turns out this ferret was found in a bin and taken to the PDSA who gave it to the RSPCA who then handed it over to a ferret rescue centre. At no point was the ferret scanned for a chip. Well I rang the rescue centre that I knew as this is the place I bought my ferret from as an 8 week old kit. And he describes her as a very well handled tame slightly plump polecat. So the next day I take a 2 hour lunch break to go see this ferret at this point I had given up thinking I would never see her again. When I get there he gets this ferret out and sure enough it’s Coco my lost jill.

Now I am very Pi55ed off that no-one scanned her. What is the point of me getting my 6 ferrets, 2 dogs and cat chipped if no-one scans them I will be writing a letter of complaint to both the PDSA and the RSPCA.

The thing that gets me is you can feel the chip under the skin, so if i had a ferret handed in here thats what i did & i only had one ferret who was chipped & it went up the vets to be scanned & re united with its owner

Pretty disgusting that the rspca didnt scan it , your lucky they didnt just put it to sleep

On speaking to the bloke he said if he does not talke them then they are now putting them down as they can not re home them

Your not the only one who has had chipped ferrets not scanned by the rspca , i am not sure if each aco has a scanner on them.

They use a lot of groups of people who they drop off to rather than take stuff to the main branch in the area , so its not a supprise that they use a ferret rescue to drop off to, they also use emotional blackmail by telling people if they dont have room at the main place the animals are put down.

I did have a decent soert of chap drop off ferrets here , he was at least honest with me by telling me they put to sleep if theres no room for the ferrets they find & to be honest when i took then in people rarely tried to find there lost ferret back then, but i still think chippings good as it proves you own the ferret
