hiho 5
hiho just confirmed to me you've never used a auto! I know your only a young lad don't want to slag you off but a auto is alot faster to reload. it is legal to shoot game with a auto, its only the safety aspect people are worried about. Iv used a pump action and that was a pile of wank to load.. i fought semi`s and pump actions you load the same Can be similar..depends on make and model but are you talking about "loading" or "cycling"???? loading was fiddely Quote Link to post
ballyalton 0
Pretty sure its illegal to use semi autos for game, be worth looking into it befor you buy. With the greatest of respect mate, i'm shocked that as a gamekeeper you are stating that it is illegal to shoot game with a semi-auto shotgun. As others have stated , it's not regarded as "the done thing old chap" on driven /formal game shoots and in fact if you turned up with a semi-auto you would probably be asked to leave or offered the lend of a S/S or O/U . This has to do with etiquette and not legality > If your certificate says that you can use your gun for game then that's what the law allows , regardless of they type of gun. Loads of guys use semis for walked up/ rough shooting of pheasants and partridges as well as vermiin control Quote Link to post
claybusers al 9
you can shoot game with a 3 shot semi in the uk why doesnt the uk come into the 21st century instead of being in the dark ages as most of europe shoot game with semi's and if anyone wants to spout the the safety issue its the person not the gun that is unsafe (usually silly old fools with a side by side that cause accidents) Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
i shoot game with a semi auto and wouldn't change it for the world, i've also taken it to clays and as long as i only load it with two cartridges then the owner of the clay ground is happy.... in fact he says its a great clay gun he loved it and done a few stands with it himself... If the clay ground or club you shoot with dont allow s/a then you may have no choice but if you shoot on private grounds i'd recommend a s/a in the blink of an eye. snap. Quote Link to post
sounder 9
semi-auto for game all the way snap's do you only have 3 in Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Semi's make me jumpy on shoots - very easy to see a break barrel is open and unloaded, not so with a semi. Saw a guy at a clay shoot with one, standing in line, barrel pointing mostly everywhere, not very confidence inspiring in that situation! Quote Link to post
