huntwithhounds 3
hiho Posted Today, 08:01 PM o/u more reliable and faster to load and you will be more likely to be aloud on organised pheasant/grouse shoots semi auto one extra shot less reliable less likely to be allowed on organised shoots o/u faster to load than a auto? the reason i bought a auto was the fact its alot quicker and easier to load in a pigeon hide than a o/u.Don't rush into anything, if you want a gun to do everything, game , clays etc get a o/u. Save up a extra £200 and you'll be able to afford a brand new Franchi/lanber or even a second hand beretta. ps both lanber/franchi are covered by gmk 3 year warranty! Quote Link to post

I payed just over 600 for a brand new franchi harrier 28'' m/c about a year ago, and have found it excellent value for money, must have put 3000 cartridges through it now with know problems. The lanber was around the same sort of price i think it retails around 800. I must admit i do like to bargin abit so shop around. If they have the gun in stock it makes alot of difference on the deal they will do, not many firms will turn down a reasonable offer for cash! good luck Quote Link to post

I think not, what makes you think this...there are some (many) shoots where they are frowned on, but nothing illegal...you can perfectly legally shoot a game bird with a rifle if you want as well!! huntwithhounds 3
hiho just confirmed to me you've never used a auto! I know your only a young lad don't want to slag you off but a auto is alot faster to reload. it is legal to shoot game with a auto, its only the safety aspect people are worried about. Im a keeper on a grouse moor and carry a gun in the line when there;s to many birds left at the end of the season. i used to carry my auto untill two different knowledgable head keepers told me this. You can only shoot game with a rifle if you have it down on your cetificate. Quote Link to post

You can only shoot game with a rifle if you have it down on your cetificate. You can only shoot whatever it says on your FAC, but there is nothing illegal about shooting a game bird with a rifle or semi auto shotgun or in many cases an air rifle either, ..it may not be acceptable, it may be frowned on and it may not be recommended, and your keepers may not like it, but ask them to show you the legislation..!!!
