Man fined

Recommended Posts

A man from rotherham has been fined 1000 pounds, given a 12 month conditional discharge and made to sign over his air rifle to the RSPCA.

Now correct me if im wrong, but its legal to shoot the collard dove as it is not a native species to the UK

Paddy :hmm:

no, your wrong, as many others are,

pest species can be shot, if there is good reason too, but shooting one in your back garden, is mostly against the law,

example;

I have the certification and authority to shoot as many feral pidgeons as I want on london underground property, reason they are a health risk to the general public, the droppings are slippery around passengers/platforms/tracks

yet

shoot them in my garden, £1000 fine per bird, cant use the same excuse

It all comes down to the relevant general license. You must be compliant with one of them when ever you shoot a bird.

For example;

You can shoot a wood pigeon because it's damaging your crops then you can eat it, but you aren't allowed to shoot it purely for food.

The relevant general licences can be found here.

Also according to the general licence you should be able to demonstrate that you have tried non lethal methods first before shooting them. I know this came in a little while ago but not sure if it is still relevant

Why sign the gun to the arse p c a

So they can get out and do a bit!!!!!!!!!!

they aint all sweetness and light, years back when i worked won a livery yard, we took horses in from them whilst they f****d up all the court cases, the inspector that used to come and see us had a lurcher and terrier....he instantly took a dislike to me, cos i clocked him out one day putting his terrier through the hedgerows whilst walking it up with his lurcher!!!!!

when i said to him i liked his style, keeping his friends close and all that, he tried to belittle my comments stating he didnt know what i meant, by bushing and walking up...........now if that was true, i'd imagine he wasn't that good at his job!!!!!!

But thats not really a surprise with them knackers!!!!!!
