whippeter69 88
I have now been granted my SGC and its on its way, when i get given a shotgun at 15 i will be going out with a mate who has a car, thats what we will use for transport. 1 If we are pulled over for say a routine check or maybe one of the lights are out by the police and i am in the car with the shotgun and my Certificate can my mate be done for possession of shotgun without license? 2 also, i read in the sporting gun the other day that a man was giving his license to his wife to pick up his cartridges on his behalf, can my mum do this for me ? Thanks Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
1. No. 2. No, not legally anyway, AFAIK (not 100% on shotgun law, ask me a rifle question!! ) Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
If you are transporting the Shotgun on your SGC, and it is in a Gun Slip or Case, then you have satisfied the law that the gun is not freely accessible to everyone. If you were stopped then all you would need to do is produce you SGC, Show them the gun in question on there, they would more likely check the serial number and then be on their way. Some officers may get very tetchy at the presence of a shotgun in the vehicle, you have to show him that it is legally held and that you are responsible enough to be safe with it. As for point two, only the person holding the SGC can buy ammunition with it. I hold an SGC, but if someone gave me theirs, I could do nothing with it, it's meaningless to anyone else. If you mother had an SGC, thats a different matter, she could buy you ammunition and give you however many you need. SS Quote Link to post

whippeter69 88
5.12 Section 5 of the 1988 Act prohibits the sale of ammunition for a shot gun or smooth-bore gun, and for which a firearm certificate is not required, to a person who is neither a registered firearms dealer nor a person who sells such ammunition by way of trade or business unless that person: a) produces a shot gun certificate or a firearm certificate authorising them to possess a smooth-bore gun; shows that they are entitled to possess a shot gun or smooth-bore gun without holding a certificate; or c) produces a certificate of some other person together with a written authority from the holder of the certificate to purchase the ammunition on their behalf.
