chartpolski 24,134
Had a look out last night with two of the other entrants in the Lamping Competition, LDR and Lamp + Battery. First time I'd met L + B, a top guy, who's up for a laugh, and we'll definately be out again !! To say there wasn't many rabbits about would be an understatement !!! Never seen such a dearth of rabbits in this particular area, but we did see a lamp a few fields over !! We ended up with nine rabbits only, with honours being equal with each dog taking three rabbits each, including one that Delta took without being slipped, as it ran straight down my beam for her to snap up !! L + B had us in stitches when he walked out into a sodden field which had been churned up by cattle, and somehow managed to loose both his rigger boots !! LOL !!! Makes a change from me falling over !! We saw plenty of foxes, but as we didn't have a gun, they were left alone . Not many rabbits, but a good night with good craic !! Cheers Quote Link to post

Guest ASD
I experienced the same thing last night, where i went pretty local to me never holds big numbers of rabbits but you can usually get 10 or 15 runs but last night i never seen 5 let alone run 15,the weather was perfect BUT there just wasn't any rabbits to be seen,i only got one but i did manage to get a few of the bunnies bigger cousins which kind of made things slightly better but without them, talk about being a bad night .Chers Andy. Charters, was i seeing things when you seemed to have a little tumble down the dyke thing??? LDR, as you know fine well, this was the first time in my long and adventorous life that I had EVER wore glasses !! I found the vari focals great for seeing the quarry at the end of the beam, but found them terrible for seeing the dykes and ditches !! I find the fact that I only fell down one ditch, on par with a normal night out !! What you young u'ns seem to forget, I am old enough to be a grandfather to most of you !! Still enjoy it though, mate ! Looking forward to the next night out !! Quote Link to post

LDR 29
When you think back over the night, it was eventful in in places.....like the police helicoptor coming overhead lighting us up and there were some serious lucky critters!!!! foxes in abundance in so many different fields, even a cub at this time of year!!!! 2 and 3 in more than one field, if it was a different time of year you'd think they were looking to pair up!!!!!! wonder whether a local wildlife lot have released a load there, when you think of that one just didnt seem to know what it was doing or where it was going!!!! If they have, they obviously aint done their research, cos its not the safest location for any critters, let alone old charlie!!!!!! Quote Link to post
chartpolski 24,134
I wasn't going to mention the 'copter with it's "night sun " on us !!!! Or even the foxes that had to be the luckiest animals in the north east of england !! But then again, they would have been ok against these "show dogs " !!! LOL !! Cheers. PS, the 'copter lamped us then must have decided we were legal, which, of course, we were !! Quote Link to post
