Our New Dog-Saluki

Recommended Posts

I know some of you have seen my posts about training, some of you may wonder what I'm doing on here as I dont hunt. I think the forums great, and have learnt loads of stuff myself. I do volunteer work with rescue dogs, Doglost in between my proper job.

In between that I spend lots of time with my dogs, including Sal -the new one. Caught as a stray & slowly settling into been a home bird.

This is the 1st ever pic of her- taken by putting the camera lens up to binos & hoping for best

She cheated a bit in that some one saw her in Jan this year &started leaving her food down once a day whilst he was at work. My dogs dont hunt either but Tig- the stripey one can kill a teddy in seconds :) , the fat labx in expert in pulling eyes & noses off :)

I'm really interested in the hawks- hope that I get the chance to join some one for the day. I'm not against working dogs either. I'm defo not a spy for some of those other dodgy sites either.

Dogs have always worked & some of these do gooding prats want putting in a field & used as target practice

welcome real nice dogs you have and look realy well cared for a credit to you, please dont take this the wrong way but i think all sight hound types look a bit silly in a harness jmo there necks are a lot stronger than they look however much they might pull all the best and good on you with your work

I put her on harness to save me spinning her round by her neck when she races round. No offence taken but she's permantly on a lunge line or flexi lead at the min- we've only had her 6 weeks & she's no recall whatsoever. The harness is kinder & one of her new friends bought -she's Irish hence the green-I dont want her looking like a tart though :) .

I think it is safer while she is still on a lounge line

Your dogs look cute, I don't hunt, but I like to see what dogs can do when they are doing what they are bred for, and am actually what most people call a bunny hugger as I am studying animal care, but even there 3 out of 4 of the lecturers hunt and we are around their dogs most of the time, and where I live different hunting is always going on so I'm used to it.
